A few weeks ago, just a couple of months after our new site launched, we decided to run a Google Adwords paid search campaign. Right away we noticed all our keywords had a Quality Score of 1/10 – and that wasn’t good.

Call to actions, their design, placement, and wording, can be a headache producing subject. In fact, I'm the one who usually produces those headaches annoying everyone talking about these buttons, “bigger”, “more contrasting”, “use a verb”, “bigger, darn it!” and things like that.
Today I looked at Twitter.com's call to action and thought, “okay, this is pretty basic and effective, let's deconstruct the most important design points.

Pay-per-click (PPC), the advertising model where site owners only pay for people who click an ad and visit their site, is such a powerful yet easy to implement tool that makes it easy to try it without seeing results or not taking adavantage of all the benefits.
